Salsa is one of the most popular Latin Dances in New York City. Salsa Music initially originated in Cuba and was popularized in Puerto Rico. Today with all the Latin Rhythms combined from different Caribbean and South American countries has helped formed today’s popular Salsa Music. Salsa Dancing in New York or Salsa ON2 is danced in a forward and back motion with a partner. This fun and exciting dance incorporates various steps, partner work, styling, spinning and attitude. In the class you will learn new and fun moves week to week and learn how move your body to rhythms of Salsa.
You pay for the month of classes and each Salsa Class is 2 hours. You take One class a week for that month. The first hour is danced without a partner. The instructor goes over individual steps, styling, and basic movements in the classroom. The first hour is great for focusing on yourself and learning how to correctly take steps, and learning basic Latin movements in the classroom. The teacher also goes over Salsa Music and you will learn how to hear for timing, rhythm, and musicality in Salsa Music. The second hour is “the fun part” this hour is danced with a partner. No partner is needed as we all rotate together in the classroom. The second hour focuses on leading and following for the ladies and the gents. We then go over all the latest and fun turn patterns that make Salsa exciting. After learning all the basic moves you will find dancing Salsa is a great new hobby.
