To write dates in Spanish we use the format [Day/Month/Year], which would be translated as [Día/Mes/Año]. It is important to know how to say the as well as the , so make sure to check those lessos if you have time. It is common to write dates as in [18/11/1988]. In sentence style, this date would be “Dieciocho de noviembre de 1988″. As you can see, it is necessary to know . The basic structure for a written date would be [Number DE MONTH DE/DEL YEAR]. After 2000, we replace the last DE for DEL, like in the sentence: “Dieciocho de noviembre del 2013″.

You can also use the verb SER in future form as SERÁ or in past form as FUE to say the date, “decir la fecha”, for example: “Mañana será 16 de Junio” and “Ayer fue 14 de febrero”. Three very useful words for this topic are HOY (today), AYER (yesterday) and MAÑANA (tomorrow). like EL are placed before a date just the way we use the preposition ON for this purpose in English so to say something like”The party is on October 11th” we should say “La fiesta es EL 11 de octubre”.
