A Flipped class can be very beneficial in a Spanish class. First, I believe that it can help the teacher. As a Spanish teacher we are always concern about students having time to practice their Spanish in class. However, because we have to let students learn the material before they can talk about it, there is not as much time as I would like for students to do so. So, how does this help teachers? When lesson planning, they can plan specific conversation hours in class that will keep students engage rather than just spending a certain amount of time going over a lecture or so.
I believe that a flip classroom can definitely take out some of the boring parts of a lesson for students. Bergmann (2014) states that “Teachers become guides to understanding rather than dispensers of facts, and students become active learners rather than receptacles of information”. So, instead of just telling students a whole bunch of information, that some of them might find boring, we can have an active lesson in which they are part of everything we are doing in it.
I am all about , so I do love the fact that this strategy may enhance collaboration in my classroom. By learning the material at home, students are ready to complete assignments in my classroom as soon as the bell rings, which is good because I can come up with fun (educational) activities that they enjoy.
To conclude, I love the fact that students have to use technology to complete these activities. I believe is a proper way to enhance those that everyone is talking about.
